About Driving Guy’s Mark Atkinson

Welcome to DrivingGuy.com! I’m Mark Atkinson, and I started this blog in 2008 to lend another strong and entertaining voice, bringing news, reviews and commentary to the automotive landscape. Prior to DrivingGuy.com, I’ve worked as an automobile journalist for nearly 10 years now, starting during my years as a student at Centennial College, in Toronto, by launching an auto-review section in the college paper, The Courier. Following graduation, I worked my way up to Editor of Inside Track Motorsport News, and was also responsible for the Streetwise section of the magazine and website, which provided new-vehicle reviews and industry news.

In 2007, I moved to Formula Media Group as Senior Managing Editor of the print versions of Carguide and World of Wheels, two of Canada’s largest National automotive titles. You could also find my ramblings in other Formula publications such as Canadian Auto World, the Hamilton Spectator Wheels section, Metro Carguide, Suburban Life and West of the City.

Now, I find myself enjoying the comforts of freelance freedom, and couldn’t be happier. Especially since my wife Rebecca very patiently lets me pursue my passion, even if it takes me away from home more than she’d like! In addition to DrivingGuy.com, you can also find my reviews and stories in several places like MSN Autos CanadaAutoGuide.comMetro News: Drive, CarEnvy.ca and more.

I have been a voting member of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) since 2001, and participate yearly in Canadian Car/Truck of the Year voting during the Association’s flagship Test Fest event every October.

I’m also a first-time father, so you may find the occasional half-awake daddy-blogger rant about how the baby won’t fit in the rear-facing car seat…

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Unfortunately, Tall Pines is out this time around (first one I’ll miss in eight years) as we have a family reunion to attend. Lousy timing, but what can you do?

Great to see you now have your own corner of cyberspace — you’re lighting it up already. Keep on truckin’~
